What is Consecutive Availability?

Consecutive availability means that a single accommodation (apartment, villa, lodge, hotel room, hostel bed, etc.) can be booked continuously without the need for a guest to move during their stay.

You can also enable or disable this function anytime. 

What is Consecutive Availability?
Consecutive availability means that a single accommodation (apartment, villa, lodge, hotel room, hostel bed, etc.) can be booked continuously without the need for a guest to move during their stay.

How does Elina send consecutive availability to channel managers?
Elina uses the max LOS (maximum length of stay) restriction option to communicate to the channel manager how many nights a guest may stay in single accommodation consecutively. 

Example:

  • You have an accommodation type that features 5 accommodation units (e.g. Studio Apartment with Studios no. 1, 3, 6, 8, and 10)
  • Tonight you have unit 1 available but no other studios. Tomorrow the only available unit is no. 8
  • When consecutive availability sending is enabled Elina will send a max LOS of "1" for bookings wanting to arrive tonight even though there is availability for a 2-night stay in the accommodation type.  

What are the benefits?

Fewer chances of receiving "overbookings by room type". In other words, fewer chances of receiving displaced bookings that you need to manage quickly by moving other bookings in the calendar in order to accommodate the guest consecutively in a single accommodation.

Secondly, especially for serviced apartments and vacation rental providers, having to move guests can be costly and oftentimes operationally difficult to support.  

Do I have to send consecutive availability? 
This setting is optional but switched on in Elina by default. Should you prefer to send non-consecutive availability instead please reach out to your Elina Concierge team who are happy to deactivate this option for you any time. So, if you are less "risk-averse" and are confident that you can move bookings to make room for them then this setting may be for you. 

Which channel managers support this logic?
At the time of this article the following channel managers that Elina partners with support this function:

  • Cubilis
  • Siteminder 
  • Staah

Please note that not all channels support this function. So, whilst it works with Elina and the channel manager, specific channels may not be able to facilitate this. Please check with the channel manager for a list of channels that support this option, or to clarify, speak to the channel directly.
