What is the difference between a credit note and a payment refund

A credit note is used to credit back an invoice that has an invoice number (either because it has reached its due date or has been paid already). This removes the invoiced turnover (revenue) that has been registered in Elina.

A credit note is issued in elina when an invoice is credited, such as the shortening or a reservation.

A refund is done when you are returning a payment to a guest or company.  As we may not always wish to return a payment for a sale these two processes are kept separate in Elina.
